5 days Merzouga tour from Fes to Marrakech itinerary
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Midelt – Valley de Ziz – Rissani – Merzouga
The first round of our Merzouga tour is a drive into the Atlas Mountains with a stop in the village of Ifrane, where we’ll get the opportunity to see the well-known cedar forest, which is home to the Berber apes. After that, we’ll continue on to Midelt via the Tiz Ntalghamt Mountain Pass and the Ziz Gorge, where we can pause for photos and some fresh mint tea. After that, we travel on to Merzouga, where we’ll have dinner and spend the night at a local Riad to cap off the day.
Day 2: Merzouga tour and camel ride
Today, we’ll tour the area around the Erg Chebbi sand dunes in the desert. You’ll get a chance to see how nomads live and the stunning contrast of the desert. The Gnawa music will be enjoyed when we travel to the ebony village of Khamlia. We’ll enjoy a typical Berber pizza for lunch in the historic city of Rissani. We’ll ride on camelback in the late afternoon to see the sun set over the sand dunes before spending the night in the desert camp. As the moon rises above the beautiful Sahara Desert, we will enjoy a classic Tagine dinner, savor some delectable local mint tea, and listen to some traditional Berber music while sitting around a campfire.
Day 3: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges
After waking up, we’ll proceed to a nearby hotel where you may freshen up and have a delicious breakfast before we continue on to Ouarzazate. We’ll stop in Berber communities along the journey that are home to The Todra and Dades Gorges. At the Dades Gorge, we’ll make a stop at a nearby hotel where we’ll stay the night and have a free dinner.
Day 4: Dades Gorges – Skoura – Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech
Following breakfast, we’ll continue our journey toward Ouarzazate through the Route des Mille Kasbahs (fortresses), stopping in Kalaat Mgouna, the heart of the Valley of Roses, which is well-known for its yearly Rose Festival. Our next stop is the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a Unesco World Heritage site that has served as a filming location for numerous Hollywood productions, including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and the renowned HBO series Game of Thrones. The next day, we’ll go to Marrakesh via the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass and spend the night there at a modest hotel.
Day 5: Tour guide to explore Marrakech
Marrakech will be the location on this day. The main sights of the city, such as the well-known Jamma el-Fna square, the Koutoubia mosque, the souk, the Royal Palace, and a few museums, will be explored by you. Before concluding our tour at your hotel or airport, we’ll also explore Gueliz, a more contemporary area of the city, which includes the Menara Gardens and Marjolle.
